This soil pH tester is more accurate than the much more expensive one I used before — and it costs less than half the price.
I was initially getting very low acidity readings in the 3s, but I discovered the issue was testing soil that was too wet right after watering. Once I tested drier areas, my backyard and several neighbors’ lawns showed more realistic readings between 5.3 and 7.5, which is right around the ideal range for lawns. To confirm its accuracy, I tested tap water, vinegar, and ammonia, and each produced the expected pH levels: tap water around 6.9–7.1, vinegar about 2, and ammonia around 11.
While it may not be laboratory precise, it’s accurate enough to guide you toward the correct pH range for a healthy lawn. I primarily use it for pH testing, and it performs that job extremely well.

Great tester—delivers excellent pH measurements! Just follow the instructions for proper use. There’s no need to force or twist it into the soil. Simply insert it gently about 3–5 inches deep, wait for 5–10 minutes, and take three readings from slightly different spots.
